I'm attempting to run NET USE on a stand alone PC under Windows XP Pro in order to redirect the print job to a virtual text printer (Miraplacid). My DOS Application would then execute the file from Miraplacid & print to LPT1. The system has a parallel port. What's happening is; when I execute the command I get the message "The Network Connection Could Not Be Found". This seems to be saying that I cannot use the NET USE command because I'm not connected to a network. I dont want to be connected to a network. I have used the "NET USE LPT1 /DELETE" and "NET USE LPT1 \\PC_NAME\SHARED_PRINTER_NAME" but this did not help. After all; DOES "NET USE" RUN ON A STAND ALONE PC?

Any idea?
