I have tried to set up Home Folders on my Win2K server but the drive specified in the user's Properties doesn't show up on the client machine and doing net use from the client doesn't work either.
Re the latter, if I do "net name" on the server I get SERVER and SERVER$ returned; so doing, say,
net use z: \\server\Home Folders\tony should work, no? But it doesn't; I get an error message that the server name is not recognized.
I am confused and hope someone can help.
Tony.

One clue might be: If I am logged on as administrator I get system error 67, the network name cannot be found. Sometimes, but not always, after I do nbtstat -R, I get an incorrect username or password error message instead.
Helllppppp!!!!!!

Try

net use h: /home thats if you have mixed clients.

Try this,
NET USE Z: \\SERVER\HOME FOLDERS\%USERNAME%
or
NET USE Z: \\SERVER\HOME FOLDERS\TONY$
The problem with the last option is that you will have to add a seperate line for each username. Both will work.

Hey PronetSolutions,

Is that Ryan or John.
I think it would be Ryan, but I might be wrong.

All complaints will be routed to /dev/null

%USERNAME% will only work on NT machines, for the second to work you must do the following;
Make sure the Home Folders dir is not shared, make sure you share the users folder as TONY$ then write;
NET USE Z: \\SERVER\TONY$
You can test from command prompt...

Net USE Z: \\SERVER\TONY$ is working great. Thank you.
But now I have another problem! So see my next post.
Tony.
