hi friends,

i was getting an error in our Net Server while booting ,like, "Net Server Selftest Management Failed" and "DIMM Test Failure" ......

Apparently its a very old server and i was told by a hardware vendor that the BIOS should be upgraded....

now i have some Oracle 8i application and Data in that server and we dont have support for even that, as it too, is old and used very rarely, but the management need the data... and we dont have the backup either....

can anyone please clarify that will getting the BIOS upgraded affect the data ?

thanks in advance

To me, it seems like you have faulty memory hence the faulty DIMM message. Maybe you could swap the memory out? I very much doubt that a BIOS upgrade would help in this instance as the error appears to be caused by a hardware error.
