.NET on W2K SP2, IE6

I am having a heck of a time installing .NET on W2K SP2, IE6
I deleted all references to .NET in the registry and deleted folders named any thing .NET but still getting
an installation error:

[10/13/02,22:55:19] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent:re/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper()
[10/13/02,22:55:19] setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified in ISetupManager::AddToActionResultCollection()

!?#@Microsoft sites do not even to bother to mention this type of problem I found plety of references else were on the web to this type of problem...am at the point where I am ready to format my hard drive just this install this %^$%$&*!! from Microsoft.

Any help out here will be greatly appreciated

if you want to find more sites that deal with the errors your getting, don't just rely on Microsoft. I just took the first error message you had, put it in Google, and found a number of sites that had discussions about the same sort of behaviour.
