Search is dead, so I am posting this question:

I have an NT4.0 server, IIS 4 as my web server. I have quite a bit of stuff in older ASP on there..

Questions:

To do .NET web dev, all I need to do is install the .NET framework on my dev computer and the webserver? (besides having VS .NET)

When you install the .NET framework, does it kill older .ASP stuff (ASP 2.0 on IIS 4)

Can I use my NT4/IIS4 rig for .NET dev, given that I'd installed the .NET framework?

Thanks in advance!

It won't kill asp classic stuff, but you will need to upgrade to IIS5 in order to support asp.net.

The bad news is that you can't put IIS5 on an NT4 server, which means you're going to need Win2k, too.

Sad but true.

Funny (or not so funny) thing is that I had to deduce this from system requirements from MS. They make no specific mention (or at least they didn't a year ago) about this incompatability. What they do say is that you have to have IIS5, and then you know IIS5 won't run on NT4, thereby inferring that you need win2k.
