I have both on my computer and I'm running out of disk space. can I remove 1.1? Will everything work? If something was using 1.1 can it use 2.0 and still work? dose 2.0 have everything 1.1 had and more?

TIA

No..

Dotnet 1.1 components need 1.1 files.

If you remove it, any dotnet app that was 1.1 framework will break.

So I guess I'll need all of them? 3.0, 3.5, 1.1 and 2.0 ? if I get newer software the uses the others? Or developed something that uses it? I remember needing VBRun libraries and then they did away in with them VB4-5 ??? now I guess were back to something similar again?

Maybe at some point. Since evrything from microsoft requires some level of the framework then at some point you were going to need them anyway.
