.NET compact framework instrumentation

Hi all,
I am trying to create a log file for my pocket PC application(C#.NET) , to measure performance,log error messages, measure battery consumption etc. I haven't worked much with pocket PC devices and I don't know how I can write event log entries or create something analogous to a Windows service for a desktop application.Can someone help me out?I checked out this article, but couldn't make much sense of it:
