i am installing Net Backup Professional on a Sol 8 Server with a Quantum SDLT 220 Tape drive attached. How do I specify that I want to use the tape drive for the backup files to be stored on? Can I just specify the path to the tape drive:

ex.
/dev/rmt/0

I have already tried the 'mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status' command and verified that the tape is detected.

Didn't seem to find this in the users manual.
This is the first time I have installed this so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You should see the tape drive the minute you bring up the media manager gui within the Netbackup Main Gui. Go into the media manager icon and Drill down until you see the device under the Solaris system it is physically attached too.

If it is not there, then you go to the toolbar, configure, media device, tape drive, and follow the prompts as you walk yourself thru it.

Just make sure you have the latest patch update from Veritas for Netbackup Pro and Any patches Veritas recommends from the O/S level.

Any questions, let me know.
