Net authenticated user must sometimes authenticate to Exchange

I have an end user who must occasionally authenticate to the Exchange server, even though he is logged on to the network (2003 Active Directory). Does anyone know what might cause this?

What method of authentication are you using?

Thanks for the response! He is not using HTTP; just using a regular LAN login. Out of 100+ users, he is the only one having this problem. I have never seen this particular email anomaly before!
