I've been developing in VB for a number of years and have just gotten into VB.NET. I really like it. I am thinking about getting a handheld PC, like an iPAQ HX2415 or something similar, and I was wondering if the .NET framework is available for handhelds. The one I am looking at is running the Microsoft Mobile Pocket PC 2003 2nd Edition OS.

My questions are -
1. Does the OS matter as long as it's microsoft?
2. Can I do the development on the regular PC and port it over to the handheld?
3. Assuming that the answer to #2 is affirmative, does it take anything special on the desktop where the developement is taking place?

I would appreciate the benefit of everyone's wisdom on this.

Thanks.
Greg.

I'm going to be starting a Pocket PC project in the near future.

1) I don't believe so, as long as it can load the Compact Framework
2) That is my assumption as well. I don't expect microsoft intends us to develop on a pocket pc ;)
3) Having the Compact Framework on the PC and selecting it as the framework to use from the build manager is probrably the easiest way.

3) VS.NET has an emulator that emulates (dooh) the pocketPC. But is da** slow.

4) the compact framwork is very limited
5) start a compact framwork project and try it out now, you don't a PPC to see it work.
