hi,
I have compiled Samba 3.0.14a in AIX 5.3 using gcc 4.0.0, just samba without other (kerberous,openldap,libconv...),
and after some little configurations in /etc services an inetd.conf, it goes (swat including).
The target of my job is to put my Samba server as
member server (not Domain Controler) in a ActiveDirectory
environment Windows 2000 or 2003.
Giving the command "net ads join" the system answers:
You have not compiled with AD support (I know).
Question.
The command "net join" (NOT: "net ads join") is used to:
join the samba server to a Windows NT4 domain
(and then to add SmbSrv to AD I need "net ads join")
OR
to join a samba server to any Windows Domain (also AD) without "dcproming" samba server to a Domain Controller ?
(and then "net ads join" is needed to promoting Samba Srv
as a ADS Domain Controller) ?
bye
vittorio
