.NET 3.5 Install failed, now all .NET programs crash

I tried to install .NET 3.5 and it got to 100% and stayed there for over an hour. I needed to turn my laptop off to get some sleep (exams ), so had to end task (clicking Cancel did nothing).

Now all .NET programs crash upon launch. I have tried reinstalling .NET 3.5 and .NET 3.0 SP1 and both installers fail.

.NET 3.5 doesn't appear in Add/Remove programs, so how do I remove the obviously screwed up installation so I can hopefully reinstall .NET 3.0 SP1?

Have you got a suitable restore point. I think that would be your simplest solution?

I shall try that. I would never have thought of that because I've never needed it before (surprising, I know).

I tried removing .NET 3.5 and it did nothing. Now uninstalling all .NET versions and hopefully then reinstalling .NET 3.5...

Woo, seems to work now. I removed all .NET versions with that removal tool, then was told I had to reinstall WLM upon reboot, so did. Then reinstalled .NET 3.5 and it worked fine.
