Hi,

I am having a problem at the moment that I am having trouble solving. I'm currently redeveloping my site. A current test page can be seen at
I have designed the graphics in photoshop and then sliced it accordingly. I then designed the table and inserted the slices. Then for the search bar and news scroller I nested tables so that the alignment was correct.

My problem now is trying to type something after the nested table for the news scroller. I wanted to use that area as the heading for each page. However when I try and type anything after the nested table it starts a new line, totally messing up the page.

Is there any way that I can keep the page as it is and have content after the nested table? or do I have to reslice and split the row that contains the news scrollers nested table?

Thanks in advance

Greg Palmer

We usually suggest people to use CSS design since it is less messier than the tables, but since you've done so much with tables, it is kind of awkward to start over. The easiest way to do it is add another column to that nested table and make its size 100%. First three columns will have fixed rows and will contain the scroller, the fourth column will have rowspan of 3 and will contain all three rows. That should do it.

Vragabond,

Thanks for that - I woke up this morning at 5am for some unknown reason and realised how stupid I had been. Why is it that the easist of ideas never come to mind??

As for the CSS, I only realised a couple of weeks ago that CSS could be used instead of tables. If you know of a good, easy to follow, tutorial that I could read I would appreciate it. I'm quite happy at starting over as the table work only took about 20 minutes. I can always go live if needs be with the tables based site and then change later once I am more confident.

Thanks again

I agree - I have used tables for ages and still find them easy to work with. However, I ought to keep up with the times [bigsmile].

Thanks for the links i'm off to read them now.
