I am developing a summary report for a large multi-section survey. Each section of the survey requires individual queries to handle summarization. The main report controls the grouping/sectioning and controls the queries feeding the sub-reports. Each of the sub-reports themselves contain sub-reports. (Having fun yet?) ... Everything was working splendidly until I added the fifth subreport(and its accompanying sub-subreport) then I got an error message... "unable to open any more data bases" ...
The report (including all sub-report queries) is being fed by a single Master query
What is the limit to the depth and complexity of report/subreport structure?
TIA!!

Yes there is a 4 Sub-Report or Form Limit in Access '97
Not sure about 2000
But as you may have figured you should be able to break up your report in several reports which can alos have 4 sub reports each.
And you can print all of the reports by using a macro which opens one at a time in succession...
From Access 2000 Help, under: subreport, create a subreport:

A main report can include subforms as well as subreports, and it can include as many subforms and subreports as you want. Additionally, a main report can contain up to two levels of subforms and subreports. For example, a report can contain a subreport, and that subreport can contain a subform or a subreport.
Sounds like the answer is 2.
