nested prompts

I have a report with 3 atributes
atribute 1 is not in the hierarchies of the other 2,
when i do the nested prompts with atribute 1 with the atribute 2 , when i execute the prompt firts ask for the elements for the A1 , then the promt give all the elements of a2 independent of the selection of the prompt of the a1,
i want the relationed the a1 with a2 the only thing waht i have is the ids of the a1 =1 and the id of a2= a1 id's+(id's a2), there some way to aply some kind of substring funtion to parse the selection of the filter prompt and then display the coreespondent elements of a2.
