Nested Layer Sets?

The guide to Photoshop says that you can have upto 5 five nested layer sets. Why on earth would you want to do that? I'd imagine it would get quite complex when trying to isolate an individual layer.

Any ideas on how one might use this many nested layer sets?

Hi,

Nesting layer sets is the best thing to ever happen to photoshop. I create templates all the time and it's great to be able to narrow a particular area down.

For instance, I have the banner section of my web template I create a set for it. Now within that layerset I have a ton of layer all pertaining to different things. I have my logo, it uses dropshadows, the text name, the slogan etc so I put that all in a set called logo. I also have my live chat image which has multiple layers and they all go inside another set called chat. Then there's my navigation and my currency and my language as well. All those smaller subsections of the banner go inside layer sets which are then nested inside a general layerset called banner. This goes on for the whole template.

It's just a way of organizing all your layers into sections and then subsections.

I personally love them. I use them all the time.

Yeah, Im not saying that they are not good , but I'm thinking if you have a set nestled within five levels of layer set, wouldn't it get jsut a little confusing?

I was over the moon when this little baby came along, I design tattoos for friends, websites etc... and it is a great help.

It can be confusing if you don't name things clearly. So as long as it makes sence to you it will aid locating sections.

It is also helpful if you need to hide or show a certain sub section without having to find all the layers associated with it or without having to hide the entire parent section.

I haven't gone 5 eep yet but I may go 4.
especially for button bars.
