Hello,

I have a customer that is requesting a NEMA4 rated server cabinet ? Any recommendations ? The server equipment will be located in the middle of the desert. The sand storms cause havok on computer equipment there. I'm searching through the obvious websites like Chatsworth, Middle Atlantic and APC.

Thanks,

A part of me wonders if this is even possible. Because the servers will require air-flow to stay cool, you would need to have some major filters on the in-bound air to catch the sand and then the rest of it would have to be sealed up tight. I checked McMaster-Carr, but they don't have any NEMA 4 or 4X enclosures that would be big enough.

I've been to uptime4u website and waiting a call back from their reps. Obviously, the server cabinets will be inside a building with ventilation but the sand always finds it way through. We want to prolong the life of the equipment.

Well dust and heat are two major killer of electronics so this type of a cabinet may be warranted.

Now if they will just clean equipment and change the filters every once in a while.....

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

4uptime replied. They don't have anything suitable for me and referred to another website. I'm waiting their reply. I have many servers in the jungle environment but this is the first in the desert environment !
