We are planning on using Wasp Bar Code WandReaders
What we need is the Control Source Code for MS Access using a standard 3 of 9 barcode. We could also use Wasp Bar Code Drawing Control (v5.0).
We can use "/FO" by itself for CTRL and "%VA" for F1 but can't seem to find the tecnique for combining the two.
Source Code needed:
CTRL F1 thru F12
ALT F1 thru F12
thx in advance

I have better luck with a plain Barcode font
like this one.

then you don't have to create a bunch of control characters or anything.

And here is the Syntax for it in an Access report.

Plus I can provide you more Technical help that you will ever need which is what WASP cannot do.
They are selling a bunch of hardware and supposed software that no one knows how to use.

DougP,
Maybe I missed someting somewhere.
I can today produce a barcode using "%VA" as the control source and it will be interpreted as F1 using the WandReader and by using "/FO" as a control source WandReader responds with a "CTRL" keystroke. What I cannot do is combine "/FO" with "%VA" and get a CTRL F1 response.
The barcode font is not the problem it is the source code.
Sorry for not being more clear the first time.
thx

When I create such codes I have to first send the Ctrl Down sequence followed by the F1 key followed by a ctrl Up

Here is what it looks like.

The top barcode is actually Ctrl-Alt-E

So there were five charactes sent
Ctrl key down, Alt key Down, Lettter "E", Alt key up, Ctrl Key up.
The other thing I had to do was re-program my Welch Allyn IT-3800 scanner to NOT add a Carriage return line feed to a Code 93 and add one to a Code39.

Doug,
So here we are again. Maybe I'm just thick these days.
I have the source for F1.
I have the source for CTRL.
I have Wasp WandReaders.
I have reset the Preamble and Postmble codes.
I have fonts that will product a barcode representing these strings.
What I am looking for is the source that will combine these two keystrokes.
You have mentioned <CTRL Down> and <CTRL Up> sequences.
Yes I see where that may be my solution.
The question is - Is this source code available thru Tek-Tips or is it only available thru your Website.
thx

When you say source I'm not sure what you are talking about?
Are you trying to make a sheet like the one mentioned above at my site???
The "scan codes" as I used should have come with the WASP Barcoder scanner.

I have some information but it is for a Welch Allyn IT3800
I don't know if it will work for you or not.
Give me a hour or so to put it on my WEB site.

I also used a program called B-coder Pro
to make the Code93 barcodes DougP, MCP

Or are you referring to what goes in the Access reports text box to make a barcode??

See with my fonts all you need to do is this in the Control Source
="*" & [your_field_name] & "*"

Or here is a Step by step guide.

other that that you have to contact WASP.

call me 727-460-9180 if you need to:

This does not work. I have tried this method to recreate CTRL+I and it fails every time. I've tried ETX I EOT and ENQ I ACK

What else can I tried to duplicate the keyboard strokes of CTRL + I?

Do you just need one barcode with Ctrl-I
Or do you need to add that to on going barcodes??

Here is a .jpg you are welcome to use on my site.

Also I used the Welch Allyn scanners cause they do read those odd barcodes very well.
They are on my site too.

Also note if you have an “Enter Key” suffix programmed into your scanner after you scan a Code39 Barcode then the scan a Ctrl-I. Guess what, its sending an Enter key after that too. So it may be working but because it's sending an Enter key immediately after the Ctrl-I then it is doing something you are not expecting. Or would not work at all.
How do you know if that's the case????
Simple: Open Notepad and scan the Ctrl-I if you see some characters or not and the cursor jumps to a new line then it is sending the Enter Key too.

If you see characters in Notepad after scanning the Ctrl-I then the scanner is not interpreting the Ctrl-I properly either.
