I HAVE AN ELECTRA ELITE 48 SYSTEM WITH A 4 CCK CO-4 CARD AND WHEN I PLUG A TELEPHONE INTO PAIR 1 OF THE AMPHENOL SLOT 1 I GET NO POWER TO THE TELPHONE. IS THERE ANY SWITCH SETTINGS OR INITIALIZATION CODE REQUIRED TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING. THE SYSTEM WAS UNPLUGGED FOR SOME TIME.

YOUR HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

Check your amphenol and punch down. Try defaulting the system by pulling the battery plug and recycle the power.

CHECKED ALL AMPHENOL CONNECTIONS REPLACED WITH KNOWN GOOD ONES AND STILL NOT WORKING UNPLUGGED BATTERY BACKUP , CPU BATTERY AND BACKPLANE BATTERY AND STILL NO LIFE.

1- DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THE SWITCH SETTINGS ON THE BACKPLANE ARE FOR AND WHAT SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS
2- DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT SWITCH SETTING ON THE CPU SHOULD BE SET FOR.
3- CPU LEDS ARE COMING ON AND LIVE LED IS ON

IS THERE LEDS I SHOULD BE WATCHING FOR STATUS
I CANNOT THINK OF ANY OTHER PROBLEM THAN THESE SWITCHES AND SHORTING PINS ARE INCORRECTLY SET OR THE SYSTEM IS FRIED.

What pins of the RJ are connecting to the phone?? inner or outer??

i am using the inside pair but the telephone which are dtu-16d only have 2 inside pins at the back of the telephone. I assumed because the telephones are digital that this is what i should use.

I'm not a big Key system person but isn't the CO-4 a trunk card? I thought you connected stations to an ESI card.

PAVE35 I HAVE AN ELITE 48 WHICH HAS A BUILT IN 8 PORT STATION CARD BUILT ONTO THE BACKPLANE. I USED THE 1ST 8 PORTS OF THE AMPHENOL WHICH ARE CONNECTED TO THE ONBOARD STATION PORTS.

I HOPE THAT CLARIFIES

The old model handsets that you are talking about should be connected to the out side pins of the RJ. Only the newer dterm i series uses the centre pins...There might only appear to be 2 pins, but from memory they are staggered so they don't short....so you might not be seeing the other 2 there...
