Hi everyone

I know only the basics of computers and programs. I had Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on my computer but it suddenly has stopped working. I cant reinstall from the CD as it hangs the computer. I can't remove it from Add/Remove Programs - This also hangs the computer. I can't access the Symantec website as a "Page cannot be displayed" message comes up.

I have tried installing the virus scanner AVG Free. This comes up with an error message when I try to update. Ad-Aware another virus removal program has the same error come up when trying to install it. I have a program called Spy Sweeper and NoAdware which find the same bad files when I log on but whenever they are deleted they appear again the next time I log back on.

Starting up the computer in Safe mode and trying to install or uninstall Norton Antivirus won't work, nor can you connect to the internet while in Safe Mopde so I can't update the other virus scanners.

I have tried logging on with No Startup programs from the msconfig menu. No Joy. Norton Antivirus can't scan the computer for viruses and the online scan symantec do stalls when it is downloading the files.

I cannot think of anything I can do to solve this problem other than reformat the computer.
Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Josh

Spysweeper has already found your problem, it just can't get rid of it. Look in the SS logs and see what it found, then research how to manually rid yourself of it.
