I want to use the 'on' command on Solaris 5.6 but I don't know the name of the server or anything about running it. I can do an 'on' command but it tells me the server is not running.
I am trying to use the ON command for a machine I know about it is one of several I use at work. I have a lot of processing I need to get done and not enough horsepower to get it done on one ultra sparc. I chose the ON command because it is suppossed to use the same environment as the program initiating the command, this is highly desired for my application. When I try the ON command this is what I get,
on: cannot connect to server on xxxxxx
on:: RPC: Program not registered
I assume there is some server program that needs to be running on the remote node to recieve the command and execute it. I don't know what that program is, that is the key, once I find out what it is and how to run it I should be OK, I will run it on all my machines and then be able to run a lot of jobs in parallel.
