Need to test function of serial port...

Hi folks,

on one of our systems we have a serial adapter card that's got an eight port adapter attached ...

The hardware connected to that adapter's not working right.
Therefore we need a way to test the proper function of the serial adapter card as well as the eight port adapter ...

We tried Diag under AIX, but it showed no errors ...

Any ideas ?

what type of machine is it ?
what type of serial port card is it ?
what have you connected to this serial port ?
when you say the h/w connected to the serial port is not working right , do you mean you get some output , if so are they weird characters.

it's a 7009 C20 Model, quite old...
I'm not sure what type the adapter card is...

There's an infrared system connected to one of the ports. If we try to scan something using this port as input we get no contact to the Server software for this infrared system.

The software is allright as far as we can tell as well as the tty configuration for that port ...
