I am currently creating a report in crystal 9 which uses a subreport in a group header which will provide me with a count. If this count is equal to 1 then the information in a second group header will print otherwise it is supressed. My problem is that the report still prints a blank section for the second header when there is still infromation there it is just being supressed. Therefore I am ending up with part of my report starting in the middle of a page and then the bottom of the next page and the top of the third and middle of the forth.

Use shared variable to return subreport count, and suppress section based to that.

I am currently doing the suppress section based on the subreport count and that works except that blank sections are still printing where the subreport would be. Therefore ending up with large amounts of blank space.

I don't know about Crystal 9.0 but in Crystal 8.5 there is an option to supress balnk section. This option in in the format section option.

In Crystal 8.5, you can't suppress a section based on values that a subreport within that section will return. Crystal does things in a rigid order and will ignore the test because it doesn't know the result at the time it decided whether to print or not.

There is a work-round, see thread782-477236 But I think there's a better method in Crystal 9.
