I created a template for use by my company....however, I can't seem to get it to
save so i can open it and then simply fill in
the spaces...each time i do, it adds to the document, but shifts everything down....
i saved it as a "Document Template" but as i said before, when i reopen it, it shifts everything down....i have office 97...
thanks sooo much....
Ridge

You need to place text boxes or other types of Form Fields in the areas you wanted filled in then protect the document for Forms before saving as a template.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

Yes, I agree w/MasterRacker, open up the template (make sure it has the extension ".dot" and not ".doc") and add your text boxes (using the forms toolbar). Define each textbox (in properties) whether you want it to contain text, number, date, etc., then protect it and close it. whenever you want to fill in the template open a new doc and select the template (make sure it's saved in the template folder of microsoft office so it shows up.) It should have a "doc" extension, and you should be able to just fill in the blanks without modifying the form. If it doesn't act right (the items on your form move around as you're typing) your document isn't protected.

Also, you might try putting the fields inside a table for better control of their placement.

Linda Adams
Garridon@aol.com
<a href= Adams Online
I'm a professional writer, published internationally.
