Ok, here it goes. I started working at a company where they already had the Exchange 5.5 server running on two Win2000 servers as PDC and BDC for Exchange. And are currently using BUExec 8.0 with the Exchange agent. Unfortunately I was not the one to install any of this. And the previous person decided to change the name of the PDC a while back.
I am now trying to restore a single mailbox back onto the Exchange site, but I always get the error "Access Denied” during the restore process. I've tried to think of all the possibilities and variations of restore. Like restore to a specific server, restore to a site. I've even recreated the mailbox and tried to restore it to that.
I feel like nothing works and I believe the problem is when the PDC's name was changed. Could I just rename the server back to the original name? I would see a lot of problems happening with that. Or would jut simply upgrading to the latest service packs and updates fix it? If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know. Thanks.
Here’s my current specs:
Win2000 Server SP1
Exchange 5.5 Build 2653.23 SP4
Backup Exec 8.0 Rev. 3311
