I have a older Dell Latitude LM laptop that was given to me to be repaired and have Win98 installed on it. I installed a new HD and memory - there is only one problem. I cannot get into the bios to autodetect the HD - it is password protected. There is no floppy so I cannot boot from a floppy into Win98.

I have an external floppy (parallel) but it will not boot from it. I think the parallel port is disabled via the bios - but I will never know if I can't get in to the bios.

Dell of course is willing to charge me reset the bios password, but I am hoping someone can help me save some $$$$.

I also can not find a reset switch on the MB of the laptop.

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks for any responses,
Pinkman

one way to do that is to take the battery off the mother board, its the one that looks like a giant hearing-aid battery. anyway, take it out and leave it out for about 2 to 5 hours, this clears the BIOS clock and password.

please tell me if this helps
peitzza@yahoo.com
Peter Heaton
heaton@characterlink.net
<a href= it how ever you want
