** need to remove MSBlast Patch (not virus) ** 3

Hi,
can anyone suggest how to remove the MSBlast PATCH (not the virus!) from W2k server (with sp4)?

Some software was working fine, then we installed the patch, now that software doesn't work as expected.

Removing via the controlpanel add/remove hasn't resolved the issue (I don't believe it truly reverses whatever the patch does).

Any info on a way to truly clean the msblast patch out of my server really greatly appreciated!

Have you already checked out the KB article regarding this patch? It appears to have registry information as well as what the patch does. It may clue you in on what you need to change...

I have run into similar problem. But I have narrowed it down to SP4 not the patch. All Office software is broken. Must reinstall Office.

perhaps, you should try to re-apply sp4 first.

Or just uninstall SP4 and wait until a more stable version of it is released.

OK, we took MS Blast patch off, and the software (ActiveReports2) was still playing up (caching old reports). Reading the ms link from Packdragon points to RPC problems, which I guess would fit.

Followed further Packdragon advice and took off SP4 and the problem was resolved.

Problem seems to stem from a conflict between SP4 and MSBlast patch (was working ok just with SP4).

So now we're going to put SP4 on again, w/out the MSBlast patch and see where that leaves us.

Does the software work with Blaster patch installed without SP4? Unless SP4 fixes some known issues on your system, I personally think the patch is more important than the SP.

hey you're welcome, quick and helpful responses should always be rewarded.

We've left SP4 off the servers, and have also removed the patch.

I guess it was a bit of an oversight by the network guy to patch and upgrade the live servers first, but even if we'd patched/upgraded the development environment first, the weird happenings were so vague that'd we'd have been hard-pushed to find them even with indepth testing.

I'll be sure to look out for your posts next time we get sticky problems.

We've had no problems using the MSBlast patch on our 2000 servers. Only difference for us is that we had left SP as verson 3.

Maybe that would be a possible for you
