Went to the Dell site, system disk for this model does not appear to be available. Is there another way to obtain one?

Ebay if there is one available for that model. Or you can get replacement disks for the software, using the service tag at dells website, or call them to verify.

Any Dell System Reinstallation Disk will work for any Dell. Just ensure the COA for the model you're installing is the same. You'll just need to download any additional drivers for items that require one. As a matter of fact, these Dell SRD's will work for any brand of computer, not just Dell. You'll need to download drivers and you'll need to activate Windows using the COA.

I think there may be some confusion between "system disk" and "windows XP CD". A system disk or system restoration disk (or even system restore partition) often has everything on it that is needed to put your PC back to the day it was shipped to you. O.S., drivers and extra programs included.

Usually with the Dells, there is simply a Windows XP CD or Vista DVD included. So, for Dells in general, the last comment by BFOJ applies, but I wouldn't call it a System Re-installation disk.

When I think of Dell system disks, they usually have drivers on them for various internal components on them (video, modem, sound).
