I need to read the value of the temp file location from the system enviroment variable. I can not remember this for anything.

Thanks in advanced!

either environ("TEMP") or environ("TMP") should return the temp environ variable.

There is a better solution posted towards the bottom of thread222-436160 strongm makes a good case for not using the enviornment variables... (they vary) Take Care

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I guess I am in a unique situation. Our user's permissions are locked down pretty tight. I don't see how they could easily change the environment variables in our environment. Maybe I don't understand how StrongM says that users can easily change environment variables. We have quite a few apps that use the Environ function to gain info and we have never had a problem. I am not saying StrongM is incorrect. I am saying that environ() has worked with out fail for us numberous times. In my defense of StrongM's hatred of environ responses, the threads I have responded to have been questions like "how can I access environ functions" not "should I use the environ function"
my 2 cents,

Thanks everyone. I got this working.
