I have a XP Pro SP3 box that I use to automate several internal office reports via e-mail. My IT admin has it set to use automatic Windows updates which causes me greif when the machine reboots and halts my apps. I want to disable the automated restart in group policy (not a problem) but then daily query the O/S as to its pending restart status. My goal is to send myself an e-mail when the machine is in need of reboot after an update. How can I tell what the pending reboot status is?
