Need to pass URL's from citrix session app to locally installed IE 1

We have VB app fronting SQL Server 2000 database sat on terminal servers which are walled in from internet. Citrix clients have local install of IE and local internet connections. Is it possible to get an app in a CITRIX session to pass an URL to the local Internet Explorer?
 
This is possible with the server->client redirection in Citrix XP Feature Release 2. This makes internet URL's open in the local web broswer of the client. Although I have seen some instances where the application itself can cause the redirection to fail (but very rare).
