need to number a report

I have a report... what I want is to number the lines...

1. John Doe
2. Suzy Que
3. Jane
4. Fred

What do I put in the text box? I don't want a "grand" total just each item numbered. How could this be hard??
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
You should be able to just add a text box like this:

Control Source =1
Running Sum = Over All

That should do it. These properties are on the Data tab.
