Hi everyone!

I'm having another problem and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Hopefully someone can give me some advice.

We're running out of space on the C drive of a 64-bit Windows 2003 Server (virtual). The maximum space is 10 GB. We have SQL Server 2005 (sp2) installed along with the workstation components on the C drive. We would like to move the tools (i.e. workstation components) to another drive. The server guy says he's removed all he can from the C drive. The user databases are on another drive already. I'm also considering moving the tempdb database to another drive as well. But that's another topic.

Is moving the workstation components simple to do? Do I need to uninstall the workstation components first and then re-install them?

Thank you for any ideas! :)

Moving the workstation components to another drive isn't exactly easy. You would need to uninstall and reinstall the client tools and all visual studio components. And even then I'm not sure it will allow you to move them. I've never tried installing the client tools on a different drive. I normally don't install the client tools on servers.

Moving tempdb would be much easier.

I tried it on another server that no one was using. It wouldn't let me move the workstation components. Even after uninstalling them. Something about a shared drive. Guess it's all very much integrated. :)

I moved the tempdb databases which freed up enough space.

Thanks, though. :)
