Need to make reports external to application.

I would like to allow our users to make minor changes to reports used by our Access 97 application. Is there some way to make the reports external to the main database application. They often need to make minor changes in the wording on some of the reports, but I don’t want to allow them to make changes to any other part of the application.

Export the reports to MS Word or another word processing application?

I've never run reports using Word, can I then easily run these reports from Access, and pass data to the reports? Thanks
