Hello,

Appreciate any and all suggestions for helping me learn about web services, IIS, .NET, JAVA, etc.

Have been a layer 1-4 person but now have a need to learn layer 5-7 and in general troubleshooting applications and web services IIS, .NET, JAVA, etc.

Basically not sure where or how to start, I have access to servers and have read some online articles but still looking for a few books or guides on understanding it better.

I am not a programmer, I guess it would be helpful in some ways so if anyone as suggestions on learning general programming that would be great.

Cheers,

Techster, I would start off by setting up a test webserver running Windows 2003 w/IIS6, and then downloading the IIS6 resource kit from MS. From there you can learn a lot of the fundamentals of how IIS works, it's relation to .NET, common troubleshooting scenarios, etc. Later you may want to install SQL sever 2005 to learn about database back-ends in relation to IIS. This should help you at least the learn enough to help support an environment. Hope this helps.
