Hello i am a newbie and want to learn VFP but my question is if I first learn VB will it help me to learn VFP easily??? are the commands of both programs same or totally different???

Hmm. An interesting question.

I would answer as follows. If you already know VB, that would indeed help you in learning VFP. They are both procedural languages, and both share the same concepts of branching, looping, function calls, assigning values to variables, etc.

But to use VB as some kind of shortcut to learning VFP: No, that doesn't make sense. If you want to learn VFP, then focus on learning VFP. There is absolutely no point in learning another language first.

can you give me some links to good tutorials please.

One place that I generally point people to is:
The free tutorial videos there may be viewed on-screen or downloaded for viewing at a later time.

While the videos there are done for Visual Foxpro 6, the vast majority of what is there is also applicable to VFP9.

And from a book perspective:

If you have specific questions after that, feel free to come back and ask for assistance.
We most likely won't just Give you code (which would diminish your "Learning Opportunity") but we will gladly offer advice and/or suggestions on how you might approach a solution to your question.
Plus for any very specific code solution could give you, there would most likely be 1/2 dozen other approaches that would also work.

Good Luck,
