I have a few computers I look after for different companies.

They are using PPPOE Adsl from their ISP. I have a SMC Barricade router at each location that ahndles the connection.

Although I have it set to never drop the connection, sometimes it does and re-established with a new IP.

Is there a way I can automate or script a computer from behind the Router to notify me when the IP has changed on the router and send me the new IP address??

Or is it possible to ping via MAC address on the internet so the router will repond with it's IP?

Thanks
Matt

may be similar to what you want, it gives you a web page with the last reported IP of your dynamic IP.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Use a dynamic dns service and you can always access it by a specific hostname. I use dyndns.org for this purpose and it works great. You can download a free client there that will work behind NAT as well.

Gosh guys.. I am one lost puppy!!

I have carefully studied all the previous posts and nothing seems to be working for me. I have just formatted a hard-drive that has Windows 98 and installed Windows XP Pro. on a computer that had no problem connecting to the internet though the network at my work before. I believe I have successfully connected to the network. But when I try to repair the internet connection it won't renew the IP address. When I run ipconfig/renew I get a message that tells me that it is unable to contact DHCP server, timed out. I ran WinsockxpFix with no avail. I unplugged the router several times also with no luck. I even reinstalled and updated the drivers for my network card. I did everything else that I saw in this forum, (I'd put them here but would run out of room..) Can anyone help me?
