Need to kill ontape

I have a f50 and INFORMIX base. If I start backup program ontape and tape is bad I'cant kill this program. I try with smit and with kill but it's no go. Only restart help me but ....

Any ideas ??

Are you checking the process id with ps -ef | grep <process>, and if so are you killing the process with
kill -9? Admittedly, not a very gentle way for a process to go, but needs must.

I first try with this and afther that with smit stop proces. In booth case it's not work. My next step stop commplete Informix and result is same.
