We have three citrix servers that are all Windows 2000 servers and we run Metaframe XP feature release 3 service pack 4. I have users complaining that when they log in remotely to our citrix web browser they keep getting messages that they only have 5 minutes left even though they've only been logged in maybe 10-15 minutes. Where can I change this setting so they have more time? I assume it is somewhere in the management console? This is not just happening when they are "idle"... even if they are continuously working they get these messages.

Try here first:
AD Users and Computers
Double Click one of the problem users
Go to the Sessions tab
See if there is an Active Limit timeout set

Nope.... everything here is set to "never". So maybe it's a citrix setting?

OK - How about here:
Start-Programs-Administrative Tools-Terminal Services Configuration
Double Click the ICA Protocol
In the Sessions tab, see if you are over riding user settings and have an Active Session limit set

no, she's using a windows PC at home with XP on it. this is only an issue for my remote users.

How do the users connect remotely? Is it possible this problem lies outside of Citrix? Like maybe it is a firewall or VPN setting somewhere?

I actually don't have a "conf" folder or a file called "Webinterface.conf" on this server... unless you're referring to the registry?

No, I'm referring to the Web Interface Server. This reference was to the configuration of my WI which is version 3.x, whereas my Citrix Servers are PS4 (doesn't make any difference).

What WI version are you using, and what config file is it using?

Is this a Windows Prompt, or a notfication in the Citrix Web Interface?

I am not sure what WI version we're on... I will find out. No, it's not a windows prompt... a message appears on the citrix web interface saying you only have 5 minutes left. I think the user has the option to click on it if they want more time. But it'll keep coming up over and over and if the user doesn't continually keep checking the citrix web interface for these messages they will be logged out. That is what I'm trying to stop... or at least extend the amount of time they have.

If you are running MetaFrame XP, you might find the conf file in c:\program files\Citrix\NFuse\conf and it will be called NFuse.conf

Thanx, I found it.... the timeout is set to 60 which doesn't seem right but I will increase it to 180 and see if that does the trick or not.

Check Citrix Configuration (where you adjust ICA and RDP client's idle \ Logon time \ etc..

Hope this helps-
Brandon

Try this...

On your Citrix Box/Farm, load the Access Suite Console.
Then Click on "Manage Secure Client Access" and then "Edit Secure Gateway Settings"
On the screen that loads, make sure you have "Enable Session Reliability" ticked.

Once I did this, I was no longer disconnecting after 10 mins.

In addition to this make sure there is no time out set on the IIS server that your Citrix Pressie server is going through.... this caught me out as well....

Thanks,
Neil.
