Hello,

I have a peer to peer network at home with broadband internet access. I have all computers and the cable modem plugged into a Kingston 10/100 switch. Everything runs just dandy.

I have hurt my back and am stuck in bed. Since IT people can never be sick or hurt, I had to run a 125 ft. cable from the office to my bedroom. Needless to say it is a drag I want to add wireless access for just the laptop. I want to keep everything else on the Kingston.

I am assuming that I can buy a wireless hub and plug that into the Kingston as well and I need to install a wireless PCMCIA on the laptop.

Am I right? Any recommendations in regards to hardware?

TIA for the help

Buy two powerline ethernet bridge devices, connect on to your existing switch and the other in your bedroom. See this article for a discussion:
I recommend wireless for when you are more mobile and can take the time in placing the Access Point to handle reliably and with good speed 125' with interior walls. This sort of setup requires some playing around with the location of the wireless router.

The powerline adapters will literally plug and go, giving you 14 mbs. without problems.

When you do want to go wireless I would recommend the Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and an Orinoco G PCMCIA card.
