Hello,

running Call Manager 6.1. I want to block the extension number shown from calls coming from our help desk group. I changed the extension numbers so users would not call them directly but instead use the main help desk line. However, when someone from the HD calls another IPT location, the customer is seeing there new extension. Is there a way to block that information? Some of the users are clever enough to go to the directories, received calls and more to pull the info.

Make new partition
Make new CSS
Add new partition to CSS
Make new Translation pattern to dial internally with partition set as the new one you just made.
In “Calling Party Transformation Mask” add number you want to show.
On phones change CSS to the new one you just made on both the device and line.
Change alerting name to what you want to show on both internal caller ID and Alerting name.
Depending on how your system is setup you may need to setup extra partitions and CSS for staring (*) into voice mail and call park.

Hope this helps.

Why not just change the External Phone Number Mask .I can modify that field with any number and that's what is displayed on the far end, therefore you can do it at the station level as opposed to creating additional Calling Search Space's etc. Not real sharp on CM ,but maybe this is useful

External Phone number mask is for EXTERNAL calls. IWontRememeber's solution is great for IP to IP internal calls. There is also a field in the Translation Pattern that will show the Calling Party as 'Unknown' but I don't rememeber it off the top of my head.

I have this problem also. I cannot seem to mask an internal ip to ip extension number. the best I can get is with the original in brackets but redial goes back to the original extension number and not the masked number.

please help me. I fear this is big weekness with cucm

The TP approach will work for internal calls when you set the mask to what ever you want.

I`ve used this for internal service desk type calls - you have published number 3333 which is assigned to the "service desk" people as their main number or as an appearance but you may want them to have their own DDI

Service Desk User A has a CSS which does not contain the normal internal partition but a new parttions caleld "MASK_PARTITION". bu tteh yhave assess to teh normal PSTN partitons
Create a TP for 2xxx, 2-4xxx- depending on what your internal numbers begin with and assign the MASK_PARTITON to it - make sure no-one else has this partition in their CSS except the Service Desk people
On the TP untick "Use Calling Parties External mask" and Enter the DN of the service desk

Now when the Service makes a call on their own DN to an internal number the 3333 is displayed but if they make a PSTN call their own DN is shown

This works fine as described for outgoing calls from our analyst. But....

When a user calls the service desk and asks to be transferred to the analyst they then see the "secret" number on their phone. Anyone got any ideas how to ensure that the service desk number only gets displayed on incoming transferred calls?

Yes, under the Service Parametes for Callmanager look for "Always Display Original Dialed Number: change this to true.

This parameter determines whether phones always display the number that the caller originally dialed

Hope this helps.

Hi all,

I have one customer and he keeps bugging me by saying that if call is made outside using one of his extensions then caller sees the pilot number but not his extension number. Is it related to his CCM or Telecom provider.I am pretty sure , he has to configure his CCM.How can I help him i.e display his extension numbers..Please help!

Hi,

I have tried to follow this through but am only successful if the TP is an exact match for the dialled number.

This is what I have done
Created new PT
Ceated new CSS
Added PT to new CSS along with other that allow internal / external dial
To test set one phone to have this PT & CSS for line & device
Created TP - when the TP is set to exact match inthis case 2275 it all works ok. BUT when set to 22xx it does not work.

I think this is because it is being ignored as the phone device is a better match with the exact match.

Do I have to create a TP for every ext I want to hide my number from ?

Hope you can help
Damian

I use 7 digit internal dial so my trans pat is 1XXXXXX with the Partition set to the one I made in step 1.

Hope this helps.

Thanks but I'm not sure it does

also another question

IPTUSER makes a comment
"Service Desk User A has a CSS which does not contain the normal internal partition but a new parttions caleld "MASK_PARTITION". but they have assess to t normal PSTN partitons"

doesn't this mean that no one can call them ?
I'd like to change the caling number not block them from being called

Hi

Normal users = Partition -"Parttions_Internal"
Service Desk user Partition -"Partition_Mask CLI"

Service Desk phones- their CSS do not contain "Partition_Internal" but the TP Partition "Paritions_Mask CLI" so all internal calls are routed the TP" XXXX"- Within this TP tick "Use Calling Party External Mask" , on the individual Service Desk phones then enter the Service Desk number e.g 1111 as the External Mask so that this number is viewed as the CLI for internal calls.

Next create a Pilot DN with the normal Partition- "Partition_Internal" of the Service Desk number-1111, assign the DN`s of the individual Service Desk phones to this hunt group.

To make sure that even of they users find out the Service Desk DN`s, you could always create an another Partition, assign it to all the Service Desk DN`s but not to the users CSS so again the Users can not dial them direct - only via the Pilot.

By using the "Use Calling Party External Mask" in the TP XXXX means that the TP can be used by any group of users you wish to hide their true DN from as the published number is the mask on the actual handsets- if you do not wish to use this then un-tick the "Use Calling ..." on the Pilot DN and enter the DN 1111 under "Calling party transformation Mask"- this method means a unique TP for each service
