My company has an old DOS Great Plains system that apparently is on one of our old servers. This was before my time at the company so I know nothing about it. I need to get it up and going to access some data in it. On the server there is a GPS.bat that apparently should start the app. However I can't seem to get it up and running. Is there a local install that must be preformed to get this application going? I tried some of the other executables and got the error "must run Btrieve first". I did run the Btrieve exe on in the same folder but no dice. Please forgive my ignorance to this situation and any help getting this done will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks, Stan

what operating system are you trying to run the gps.bat from? if it's xp, there's a problem with running older btrieve versions in a dos window. Try running it in a win2k box running at least sp2.

Well I did try it on a Windows 95 system and an XP system. Would it make a difference on a W2k sp2 system? Do you know if there is a local install that needs to be ran?

been a long time for me... but you need to have btrieve engine running before you can launch GPA. There was an issue with pre sp2 win2k machines not being able to run btrieve 5 or lower.

I bump this to someone else, I can't help any further than this.
