Need to forward/transfer to external number then release the call 2

I have a new one (for me anyway).

Currently calls come into a Hunt Group which has Overflow set for calls to go to a particular extension that's setup to Forward Unconditional to a night answering service. That external company is changing to one that will be taking Overflow calls during the day and their system allows for a caller to stay in queue but receive a call back.

My question is:

Can anyone point me in the right direction to have my Overflow calls both:
-send original party's caller ID to the outside party
- be "released" from the IPO once the outside party's system answers

Or if there's a better way to handle this, I'm all ears.

To have the CID of the original call forwarded would require the service provider to allow it. I know PRIs can do it but I don't know about SIP. I have never seen an analog line that could do it. To get the call to forward and drop from the system is another service provider function called a centrex transfer.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*

Thanks budbyrd for confirming my suspicions. I have both a PRI and SIP trunks and can manipulate our users outbound caller ID but didn't know if HG Overflow/forwarded calls would allow that. (I'll try it out and report back) The original post was made right after a meeting where this became a requirement out of nowhere.

You could try Twinning instead of forwarding. It does send originating caller ID.

SIP can send the original Caller ID, just like a PRI. Create an ARS where you have N; / Dial 3K1 / NSSi / (Line Group)
Make sure the line group is the URI where everything is set to Automatic instead of Internal Data
Make a short code like 8N instead of 9N for prefixing the forwarding number so it goes to the new ARS
