Hi All, I'm trying to set up where calls are forwarded to a cell number and the call ID of the called Extension is displaced on the Cell.
Currently I have set up a VDN, say VDN 22222, the VDN goes to a vector that routes to a Cell, 9-555-555-5555. I have put the VDN as the target of forwarding from the extension, Say X55000. When someone calls X55000, from external or internal, I want the call to forward out to the Cell, but keep the Call ID of X55000(202-275-5000) (eg. IMPORTANT HOTLINE), or if not possible, the Caller ID of 202-275-5000 (made up number).
There is a request to be able to forward this hot line out to a different cell phone, depending who was on for the week. I would set up a different VDN for each person that would forward to their cell phone. When I test internally and call X55000, let's say from X55123, it rolls to my cell, but will display the calling extension X55123, and not the X55000. I want to have the simplest way to do this, to take away from user error and difficulty. I was wondering if anyone has done such a thing I'm trying to do? Any advice on the best way to this would be appreciated.

I love it when a difficult problem is resolved....

Sounds like a typical problem. Do you send the originating calling number of the person or the redirecting party number to show on display?

If I'm a mobile worker, I'd rather know who's calling me. If I'm an on call guy, I don't care who's calling, I just want to know it's for work.

Are you on SIP trunks? I ask because it's easy to add more trunk groups from CM to SM. In doing so, you could say that the call forwarding could be to 7+NPA-NXX-XXXX and in ARS 7-NPA-NXX-XXXX uses a different route to a different trunk and in the tandem table you can specify how clid works for tandem (trunk to trunk) calls.

I've done as much for a call center that would redirect calls to another call center and the far end call center only cared that CLID showed "the first call center" and not "the person who was calling".

Even if you've got PRI, you can set up many trunk groups off the same D channel, so if you don't mind peeling off a channel or 2 for a trunk that ARS/routing points to, then you can use the tandem table to send "the office" number or some other DID people associate with "i'm being paged out cause I'm on call". As long as you make sure the VDNs route to 7+the number or whatever else you need in ARS to be unique and pick your special trunk, then check out the tandem table.
