I have a large report with MANY fields involved. When I look at the table in feild explorer, there is a green check mark next to a field, but I cannot find where this field is being used on the report. I went through all the formulas as well, and could not see this field being referenced. Any ideas how to find this field?

Hi,
I think there are 3rd party tools that can do that, but, first try :
Look at all formulas ( you did that)
Look at record selection criteria
Look at Group selection criteria

Look on the report itself ( use the Edit..Find option)

if it is a formula that you are looking for change the datatype of a variable from string to number or the other way around...then run the report....the report will stop when it hits this now-bad formula and you can find it

The quality of the answer is directly proportional to the quality of the problem statement!

A place I sometimes forget to look is in report->sort records. You should also check any running totals (and any formulas used in the evaluate based on a formula sections) and also check format section->x+2 formula areas for each section. Also, for each field, check format fields->all x+2 formula options, such as for suppression, font, borders, etc.

In CR, export your report, and for the report format, choose "report definition". This will create a text file that will have all the fields used on your report, most of your formulas, etc.

The 3rd party tools that do this simply mimic this behavior, produce a better looking output, or do a better job that Crystal's report definition, but Crystal's report definition should be adequate for what you want.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I found it in the sort criteria.
