I have a cable that has been cut and pulled out and not able to trace back the the main phone room and i need to figure out what port the phone was set up on. This is was i found in the maint command line and i'm figuring that 1-3-1-48 is the port number, but if i pull the cross connect on a known working phone on port 1-3-1-51 it still shows as IDLE. I'm looking at the 110 blocks and i figure that there are 24 ports to each 25 pair cable and 1-3-1-48 would be the last one on the second cable. Am i right in thinking that ????

Location | Device | State | Owner | ID |Status
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 3 1 48 1| 5330e IP |Out of Service | | |
1 3 1 48 2| Unassigned |Not applicable | | |
1 3 1 48 2| Alternate Codec |Out of Service | | |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location | Device | State | Owner | ID |Status

1 3 1 51 1| 5330e IP |Idle | | |
1 3 1 51 2| Unassigned |Not applicable | | |
1 3 1 51 2| Alternate Codec |Idle | | |

That port does not exist in the real world.

There is no reference within the 3300 that can tell you what port on the Streamline was being used.

I'm thinking that the location is 1-3-1-48, but that doesn't seem to follow on the 110 block 1 through 24 and 26 through 48 as those are the cables that come off the streamline unit.

EDIT**Trying out the edit feature now that Billz66 has shown me gentler approach below.

Any one of your IP phones can function on any one of the steamline ports. This is an ethernet connection, nothing more.

Assuming that there are no strangle vlans in place with the streamline then all ports will be able to be used for IP Phone connections .
the dongle that is used with the streamline needs a pair of wires that connects it to the main streamline unit . it doesn't matter what port of the streamline it gets connected to .

Its not like a TDM system where 1 extension is assigned to a cct number and then the cabling for that leaves the pabx on a specific pair and must be cabled directly to the phone.

basically all IP extensions on a 3300 leave via its RJ45 lan connection and go to a switch and then the streamline or perhaps direct to the streamline.

The streamline just allows you to run IP and POE over the old cabling .
as long as the IP and POE are delivered via the dongle , any IP phone can be connected into it and will work.

Sounds like you need a cable tracer to help you get the cable back from the outlet to the streamline

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

and due to an endless stream of MiCollab , MiCC issues
Life would be simpler If only they tested products properly before releasing them .....

The problem is that someone has cut the cable and i need to trace it back to the Streamline unit so there's not a cross connect still connected and using up a port. I know i can use another port when they pull a new cable, i just dont want to have cross connects punched down on a dean cable.

The streamline should have status lights on a per port basis

Pull every jumper that is dark is about the only way to be sure.

Our streamline unit's don't have status indicators on them.

Does anybody know if there's a default login and password for the Streamline unit's ?
