In report studio - I have users that enter a site code, which is supposed to be a 5 character, alpha numeric code. They continue to screw this up. I can filter for Length <5, but I need to filter for characters that are not 0-9 or a-z or A-Z.
Any thoughts of how to do this? I see brackets, plus signs, parentheses, etc. I would rather not keep adding additional characters to my banned list.

The valid ASCII fall into three groups of codes . . .

A wild thought.. Why not use 5 prompts that are prepopulated with the relevant ASCII codes (using static choices):

A-Z (26 values)
0-9 (10 values)

and concatenate the selected values to get the final length of 5?

My IT guru decided to TRANSLATE the allowable letters and numbers to " " and then TRIM, I think, and anything over 0 was incorrect . . . thanks
