Hi there,

I need to cut this circle (globe) in the four places where it isn't touching the blocks (orange area). I have an orange background in place so the white circle can be seen. Somehow, I was able to make a cut on the left side of the circle (globe) by adding anchor points and deleting. I'm not even certain how I did that ... but my problem is that the circle isn't being sliced at the vertical angle of the block (see close-up).
Is there a way for me to cut the circle so the end points are at the same angle as blocks? And also, is there just an easier way to make the cuts?

Hope my question makes sense, and thanks!

You need to cut the bits out with the Scissors tool like what already have.

Then Delete all the bits you don't want so you are left with 4 curved strokes.

The select one of them and goto

Object>expand like this

This will convert it to an object where you can then use you white arrow tool to move the node around to look something like:

I think this is what you were after...

Well thanks so much Marcus for taking the time to answer ... complete with diagrams! The "stroke" command made it all possible.

In my case, I had an easier time (the second try) letting the cut circles extend past the squares. Then adding anchor points along the circle's end, then deleting the anchor points that extended beyond the squares, bringing it in flush with the square's edge (as opposed to trying to pull the parts of the circle outward to meet the square's edge). Someone who's skilled in Illustrator could have done it either way I guess.

THANKS AGAIN MARCUS!
