Hi folks -
I have googled for the answer to this and haven't found anything that works.

I have a Project 2007 server running on Sharepoint 2007.

What I need to do is redirect http requests to " (name changed to protect anonymity) to another site that is hosted on the same server. We're trying to make the URL more friendly to users, so that they don't have to know the server name to get to the site. We follow a certain naming convention for our servers, so renaming the server to "project" is not an option. We have DNS setup to point to the correct server when that url is entered.

I have tried to solve this by setting up - on the project server within IIS - a virtual server, with the url " redirecting to the actual site that we want users to be redirected to. However, every time I try to navigate to the url, I get a default page displayed instead of the page that comes up when I enter the full url that I don't want people to use because it isn't "user friendly." If I put the actual URL into a web browser - server name>/pwa - it works. (pwa stands for Project Web Application) However, redirecting to that same path does not work. I was wondering if I was missing something in the Sharepoint configuration to make this work.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is doing this?

BTW - I can ping the DNS name with no problems.

That worked - not sure why I wasn't finding these directions before when I was searching.

I am not a Sharepoint guru so thank you so much!!!

Great. Glad to hear it worked. This is one of the most frequently asked questions across the board about SharePoint. It is definitely not documented to its fullest extent and can be difficult to uncover.
