I'm running Redhat9 on Vmware 4.0. How do I force the nic to come up with a dynamic ip address? The only way that I was able to force the nic to grab a dynamic ip address was to ifconfig eth0 up and the activate the nic using redhat-config-network. I want automate this task from the command line in one shot.

Thanks

You can indicate in redhat-config-network that the IP is dynamically assigned and then check the box that says "activate on boot"

If that doesn't work, something is broken.
